THE FORMATION OF AIR CONDITIONING

Many ask about the origins of air-conditioning, its  and its development stages;

Follow the answers to these questions and more. Read the article: -

Inventor:

 He is engineer Willis Haveland Carrier

November 26, 1876 - October 7, 1950.

He is an engineer and inventor, and he is known as the man who shortened modern air conditioning and needed the invention until Carrier did this in experiments in inventing air conditioning by controlling humidity to solve a specific problem at a printing factory in New York City, USA.

Carrier developed a method for measuring the capacity of heating systems, and was appointed director of the company's testing engineering division. At age 25, he invented his first important invention, a temperature and humidity control system at Sackett-Wilhelms Printing and Publishing Company in Brooklyn. The company was unable to print a color well at the time due to the influence of heat and humidity on paper and ink. Carrier received in 1906 a patent for this method. He continued to work in other cooling areas. Carrier used the mechanical cooling laws to complete his project, as Carrier's cooling system was based on sending air through a series of tubes filled with cold water, and in this way he can cool the transported air, in addition to removing moisture from the room and controlling its percentage. After a period of time, in 1933 AD, the Carrier Air Conditioning Company developed a new air conditioner using the air-conditioning units driven by the belts connected to the air pushers, in addition to a series of evaporation tubes, and some mechanical elements. This air conditioner has been included in the American market within the air-conditioning systems.

The working principle of the air conditioner The cooling system contains three main components and components: air compressor or piston, condenser, and a series of evaporation tubes. To complete the cooling process, air conditioners use a chemical called a coolant to transfer the heat of the inner environment to theoutside air.

The three elements of the conditioner convert the chemical from the gas state to the liquid state, and return it to where it was again.

The conditioning or refrigeration cycle begins when the refrigerant reaches the compressor (as a cold low pressure gas. After the compressor compresses the refrigerant, to collect the particles of the refrigerant together, which leads to an increase in temperature. The refrigerant is transferred to the condenser as a hot gas, and after its entry For the condensate, the gas loses its heat. Then comes the role of the fan connected to the outer body of the conditioner, where it pulls the outside air and enters it through the hot coil. After the air passes through the coils, it loses its heat and thus the coolant cools inside the coil. The first device was designed to control moisture and temperature. In the year 1902 ADIn 1915, he co-founded the Carrier Engineering Company, which later became the largest HVAC production company in the world. In 1979, United Technologies purchased Carrier Air Conditioning Equipment

The air conditioning process is a process of treating the air, that is, cooling the air and maintaining moisture, in addition to getting rid of the unusable air and adding fresh fresh air, thanks to the invention of the air conditioner to the inventor Willis Carrier in 1902, an American engineer who invented The first device of modern air conditioner, however, the idea of using evaporated water or other liquids to cool a large wet and hot area precedes the invention of Carrier by thousands of years, since the ancient Egyptians passed through the stages and the periods that followed, and below we track together the stages of the invention of the air conditioner through the ages.

During the economic depression of 1930, residential and commercial use of the air conditioner. The polar hut that Carreere presented at the World's Fair in 1939 gave an idea of the future of air conditioning, but before it became popular, World War II began.

Carrier moved his company to New York in 1930, and his company became one of the largest employers in the heart of New York. In 1930, he started his business in South Korea and in Japan with the opening of Toyo Carrier and Samsung Applications. South Korea is now the largest air conditioner market in the world. This company has been a pioneer in the field of cooling large areas. Air conditioning was a revolution in American life, especially after increasing industrial production in the summer months. The introduction of residential air conditioning in the 1920's helped initiate a major migration to the regions

Stages of the development of air conditioning: - The appearance of air conditioning (air conditioner) came in the wake of human knowledge of refrigerators, whose primary goal was to stop the growth of bacteria that spoil food, and the ancient Romans used simple but effective methods to soften the air by circulating water through the walls of some homes to cool it. There were similar technologies in medieval Iran that used tanks and wind towers to cool buildings during the hot season. As for what we see now from the shape of air conditioners, it is the result of scientific progress in chemistry and engineering  The journey began with observations and scientific experiments since 1758 when Benjamin Franklin and his teacher John Hadley discovered that volatile substances such as alcohol And evaporation faster than water can reduce the temperature of things to the extent that causes water to freeze, which is the same conclusion that "Michael Faraday" concluded when compressing and liquefying ammonia, and this was in 1820 in England. In 1834, "Jacob Perkins" invented the first industrial ice machine, which was used primitively to circulate air and soften the air, but was consuming a large amount of snow. The real start was in 1902 by Willis Carrier, who implemented the first electrical air conditioner and was used to pump cold air, and then established the Carrier Air Conditioning Company in the United States of America to meet the increasing demands on devices, which is now one of The largest companies in the air conditioning industry around the world.

The devices were then giant measurements where the height of the device was 2 meters and width also 2 meters while it is 6 meters long, which of course are very large measurements for any home to accommodate !. The discovery of Freon as a refrigerant in 1928 by Thomas Midgley was credited with making a breakthrough in the industry as it works as an air cooler within devices to replace some toxic flammable gases such as ammonia and propane.

The development did not stop there. In the 1950s, many technologies emerged that developed the shape of air conditioners and the technology used in them to give the maximum possible efficiency, such as a rotary compressor that contributed to reducing the size of devices, and heat pumps that became cooling capabilities. And heating with the same machine.

With the end of the eighties and the air conditioners increasing in number around the world, international organizations and institutions concerned with preserving the environment and studying climate changes paid attention to the damage that freon compounds cause to the environment in general and the ozone layer in particular.Various research has been done in this regard and various conferences have been held to discuss alternatives and solutions to this problem that resulted in the prevention of the freon industry in the United States of America in the mid-nineties. The well-known (Kyoto) agreement to reduce the spread of greenhouse gases to climate change was also concluded. Freon has been replaced by some other safe cryogenic compounds such as (R-410a).

This was a quick idea about the invention of air conditioning starting from the scientific basis for it and the development of techniques used to manufacture air conditioning and its spread around the world. There are many companies that work in the field of air conditioning in Egypt (SharpCarrier and L.G ..)
